Trip Introduction
This
is a TCM Culture Holiday in China that combines TCM study
workshops, Culture & Arts Workshops, Social activities
as well as major historical sights in Beijing and Shanghai.
The program not only provides a unique opportunity for students
to learn authentic Traditional Chinese Medicine in one of
tope TCM institute in China, but also allow students to learn
and experience first hand the Chinese way of life. This includes
learning other aspects of Chinese culture & arts, enjoying
local activities and visiting famous cultural and historical
attractions.
1.TCM
Workshops
TCM Workshops
TCM workshops are aimed to focus on fundamental study and
training of each topic in Traditional Chinese Medicine. It
is ideal for TCM beginners and enthusiasts. And the workshops
will be taken place either in the University or at the hotel
that students stays. There are seven major classes offered
in this trip.
For those who already have TCM background, the contents of
the class can be upgraded according to your requirements.
Please let us know the background and levels of your group,
so the workshops can be arranged in advance.
1. Essentials of TCM This class introduces the history of Chinese Medicine,
basic theory of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) including:
Yin/Yang theory, Five Element theory, Six Evils, Seven Emotions,
and Oriental Etiology & Pathology.
2. Diagnostic Methods This class introduces the four diagnostic methods
of TCM including: observation (Wang), audio-olfaction (Wen),
inquiry (Wen), and palpation (Qie). Particular focus is paid
to pulse and tongue diagnosis. Basic Biomedical Diagnostic
Skills will be discussed.
3. Tui Na (Chinese Medical Massge)
In this class, students will explore all the theories, concepts,
techniques and indications of Chinese medical therapeutic
massage. Students will also study the treatments of the most
commonly seen clinical situations.
4. Acupuncture & Moxibustion This class introduces the meridian systems and acupuncture
points of TCM. Students will learn 12 regular meridians, 8
extraordinary meridians, 15 collaterals, and other meridian
and collateral pathways.
5. Medical Herbs This class presents commonly used herbs from the
Chinese Materia Medica, including their names, classification,
nature, taste, properties, entering meridian, indication,
usage, safe and maximum dosage, precautions, contraindications,
combinations and preparation.
6. TCM Dietary Therapy This course introduces to the students Chinese nutrition
and diet therapy, which includes the foods and herbs that
serve as foods and have therapeutic effects in the prevention
and treatment of disease, maintaining or improving health,
and prolonging life.
7. TCM Medical Qigong Medical Qigong (Chi Kung) Therapy is a form of Chinese
Energetic Medicine. This class will concentrate on building
a comprehensive foundation for Energetic Medicine with a focus
on Medical Qigong Therapy and Traditional Chinese Medicine
(TCM).
TCM Certificate All participants will be presented with a certificate
of the TCM study and training programs attended, which is
recognized by the Beijing University of Chinese Medicine.
Visit the top TCM University and Hospital Students are able to visit the Beijing University
of Chinese Medicine. The BUCM is considered as one of the
famous institutions of higher learning of traditional Chinese
medicine (TCM) in China with the longest history. There are
most famous TCM doctors and authorities in science of Chinese
medicine as well as maturated teaching systems of TCM in the
university. Our students will tour the campus and visit the
TCM museum, different departments, laboratories, and also

Our
sightseeing programs provide a great chance for participants
to discover China's major historical and cultural attractions.
Beijing sights include the Great Wall of China, Summer Palace,
Temple of Heaven, Tian'anmen Square and Forbidden City. Henan
province excursions include the famous Shaolin Temple, Chen
Tai Chi Village and extension trips to Wudang Mountains or
Terracotta Warriors are also available. These tours give a
chance for participants to experience China's rich unique

3. Local & Social Activities
A
wide range of local and social activities will be organized
throughout the trip program including a Peking Duck feast,
Chinese Hot Pot night, karaoke night, Chinese teahouse, Peking
opera and souvenir shopping. Our dinners and social evenings
are fun filled events and are a great way to meet other people
from all over the world.

Culture & Arts Workshops
Culture
and arts workshops such as Chinese calligraphy, brush painting,
Chinese medicine, traditional musical instruments, making
Chinese dumpling etc. are a unique opportunity for students
to learn and experience some of China¡¯s traditional skills
and crafts. All workshops are taught and demonstrated by professionals
of each craft.

your group would like to travel to other cities after Beijing
Trip. We could offer optional tours to other cities such as
the Shaolin Temple, Chen Taiji Village, Wudang Mountains,
Terracotta Warriors, Pingyao, Mongolia and Yunnan, Sichuan

Once
you are in China
Transportation
Our staff will meet you at Beijing International Capital Airport
and will be holding an orange colored SCIC sign to identify
them. A trip welcome pack will be handed out to every participant
so you can start enjoying your China experience straight away,
whilst our staff introduces the program on the coach. We will
take you back to the Airport once the trip finished. Our private
coach and driver will be provided during your trip in China
for safe and pleasant transport to and from the hotels and
to every place where the activities take place, such the historical
sites, training places, downtown in Beijing and the train
station.

Accommodation
Participants will stay at either 3 or 4 Star hotels depending
on the location of the activities taking place during your
visit in China. Standard rooms have one double or twin beds,
air-conditioning, en suite shower/bath room and satellite
television. Some hotels offer facilities such as choice of
restaurants and pubs, Health and Fitness club with gym, Jacuzzi,
indoor heated swimming pool, sauna, massage, bowling, table
tennis and games room. All the accommodation we have selected
is generally good condition, with two people sharing a standard
room.

Food
& Beverages
All meals (breakfast, lunch & dinner) are included in
the trip except last two free days. Breakfast in the hotel
is generally buffet style with a choice of both Western style
and Chinese food, but lunches and dinners in local restaurants
are mostly Chinese food. Chinese tea, soft drinks and Chinese
beer are served with lunch and dinner and there are plenty
of dishes available for vegetarians. If you have special requirements
for your meals, please inform us on the registration form
in advance. (Plus the wonderful welcome dinner and the farewell
party).
Briefing & Orientation
Participants will be given a comprehensive orientation session
on the first day of arrival. This briefing will provide all
the information about our trip including local map, itinerary,
timetable, emergency contact numbers, plus the locations of
amenities such as pubs, supermarkets and post office. In addition,
participants will be taken on a brief tour around the hotel
and then on a more extensive walking tour of the neighborhood
so you can orientate yourself and make the most of local facilities.
Flights Information
Our trip programs do not include the return flights from your
home country, so flight tickets should be obtained prior by
yourself or the group leader or school teacher to departure.
This can be done by phoning the airline direct e.g. Air-China,
BA or via a travel agencies in your local area. Alternatively
tickets can be bought via the Internet (e.g.www.expedia.com).

Visa Instruction
Chinese visas can be easily applied for 3 months prior to
the trip. This can be done by visiting the Visa Office or
Chinese Embassy in your home country. We will provide all
the information and documents for your visa application. All
applicants should submit an application in person or through
a third party (e.g. travel agency). If you come to the trip
as a group from martial arts schools, the group visa can be
arranged either by the group leader or the school teacher.
Travel Insurance
It is highly recommended that all travelers have adequate
travel insurance cover, especially for the purposes of flight
cancellation and medical expanses. You will be responsible
for arranging it yourself with the insurance companies or
travel agencies in your home country.
