Our staff will meet you at Beijing International Capital
Airport and will be holding an orange colored SCIC sign
to identify them. A trip welcome pack will be handed out
to every participant so you can start enjoying your China
experience straight away, whilst our staff introduces
the program on the coach. We will take you back to the
Airport once the trip finished. (Please send flights details
for you or your group to us in advance, so the Airport
pick-up and drop-off times can be arranged).
Private Coach
Our private coach and driver will be provided during
your trip in China for safe and pleasant transport to
and from the hotels and to every place where the activities
take place, such the historical sites, training places,
downtown in Beijing and the train station.
Train Journey
Longer distance traveling in China will be by train, such
as the journey to Henan where the Shaolin Temple and Chen
Village are located, Terracotta Warriors and Wudang Mountains.
These are usually overnight taking approximately 7 or 8 hours,
with a sleeping berth provided to ensure a comfortable rest
and a good experience of Chinese trains for your journeys.
Flight Journey
The journey to Southern China such as Fujian, where the Northern
Shaolin Temple is located, ErMei Mountains, Tibet and Kunming
etc will be by plane. These internal flights take approximately
1 to 3 hours to arrive at the destination.
Other
Transportation
Taxies
Foreign visitors to Beijing can usually afford to take a
taxi everywhere they want to go. The price ranges from 10
- 35 RMB for most destinations. Airport can set you back up
to 200 RMB. Still, when you convert it back into local currency
is still cheaper than most places in the world. The main problem
is communication. Be prepared to have your destination written
in Chinese characters to hand to the driver, because most
of drivers can not speak English. You might need to take taxi
to somewhere in your free time, please ask hotel staff for
assistance.
Subway
The subway in Beijing is rather limited at the moment with
just 4 lines in operation. It costs 3 RMB to most destinations,
with outlying suburbs costing 4 or 5 RMB, but this will change
within the next few years. By 2008 there is likely to be 13
lines in Beijing covering the whole city and the airport.
Right now, the subway is a great way to beat the growing Beijing
traffic chaos. The hotels we chosen usually are closed to
the station, please ask our staff for direction.
Buses
This is for the real adventurous people out there. There
are many different kinds of buses with prices starting at
1 RMB for a non-air-conditioned crowded bus. 2 RMB might buy
you some air conditioning and a few less people. Of course,
the language is a major problem as there are virtually no
buses with any English information.
